Online & global sensation, LaMelo Ball will be here in Salisbury, MD at the 2018 Governor's Challenge. The youngest son of the now world famous Ball Family recently joined a loaded Spire team traveling in from Northeast Ohio. Melo has most recently been playing pro ball overseas in Lithuania & in the JBA, a league started by his father Lavar Ball. Before this, LaMelo played with his brothers, one being Lonzo Ball (Current LA Laker), at Chino Hills in California. Ball was considered to be one of the top players as a 5 star recruit in the 2019 class. If all works out, LaMelo still has the potential and talent to play for a high major college program & even possibly in the NBA alongside his brother, sporting his own signature Big Baller Brand shoes. As one of the most known and followed high school players ever, Melo and his teamates will put on a show that will not want to be missed.

Elias King

Elias King, SF, Lincoln Academy

Elias King leads one of the most talented rosters in the country in Lincoln Academy to Salisbury for the teams second trip to the Governor’s Challenge. Although the team turned heads here last year, this will be Kings first appearance in the event alomg with an even more loaded roster this season. At 6’8, Elias is a long player & freak athlete that will put on a show every time he is on the court. King currently comes in as the 70th best 2019 player in the country by Rivals while holding 15 offers from major schools. In October, the 4 star recruit committed to Mississippi State where he could be an immediate impact player next season. Elias and his temmates will play three games at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center that will not want to be missed.

Mark "Rocket" Watts

Mark "Rocket" Watts, PG, Spire Institute

Easily the best name in the event & possibly one of the best players, Rocket Watts will be a player to see here at the Governor’s Challenge. Watts, who was strongly recruited by Tom Izzo, committed to Michigan State in September to stay at his hometown school. The athletic point guard comes to Salisbury ranked as the #27 2019 player in the country by ESPN as well as being tagged as a 4-star recruit. Rocket will be one of the most entertaining players on one of the most entertaining teams that has ever played in the Governor’s Challenge. Along with teammates Jackson & Polk, Watts transferred to Ohio based Spire Institute from Detroit, MI in which immediately turned them into a top 10 team in the country, according to Prep Circuit.

New team, same baller. Juwan Gary will be back at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center for the second year in a row but with his new team, Liberty Heights. Last year, in one game at the Governor’s Challenge, Juwan led eventual South Carolina state champs, Gray Collegiate, to a win over Sanford In an impressive effort. The 4-star recruit has been ranked as highly as the #55 player in the 2019 class, according to ESPN and recently committed to play college ball at Alabama, over many other high major programs. The senior will look to lead his new squad and impress, just as he did at last years Governor’s Challenge.

Domination… is the first word that comes to mind when most watch the 5 Star recruit Isaiah Jackson of top 10 nationally ranked team, Spire Institute. Jackson is a 6’9 monster who seeks to dunk and block every ball that comes into his area, which he normally does. Ranked as the #15 2020 player in the Nation by ESPN, Jackson is considered one of the best forwards and players in the entire country. Listed as a USA Today Chosen 25 player coming into this season, Isaiah has also been invited to many Team USA Basketball camps and events. As a 5-star recruit, Jackson holds offers from some of the best college programs around with many, many more to come. Brycen Goodine

Brycen Goodine, SG, St. Andrews

Syracuse commit, Brycen Goodine, is considered to be one of the best players in all of New England with the St. Andrews School. The high flying star currently comes in at the 69th best player in the 2019 class, according to ESPN, with a 4 star rating. This will be Brycen’s 2nd consecutive trip from Rhode Island to Maryland to compete in the Governor’s Challenge. Last year, along with a 2-0 record, Goodine averaged 20 points per game here, in addition to showing out during the Gov. Challenge Dunk Contest where he came in 2nd place. As well as being rated as the #1 player in Rhode Island this year, he was also the recipient of 2017/18 Boys Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year in Rhode Island.

Iverson Molinar

Veritas Prep & Iverson Molinar will be travelling 2700 miles, cross country from Los Angeles, CA to put on a show here in Salisbury, MD. Molinar is considered one of the top players in the State of California and received over 15 offers from some of the top programs all over the country. The 2019 point guard has committed to Mississippi State to play his college ball. Iverson is considered a prolific scorer and consistently put up huge scoring outputs, including a 36 point game vs. National powerhouse Oak Hill last season. Himself and Veritas will look to represent the west coast well in their first trip to the Governor’s Challenge.

While Legacy Early College will be making their fourth straight appearance at the Governor’s Challenge, this will be the first with recent star transfer Naseem Khalid. Khalid will be coming to Salisbury as the 39th ranked player in the nation by ESPN in the 2020 class & a 4-star recruit. As a Florida native, Naseem committed early in his recruitment process to Florida State during his sophomore season. Legacy has always been one of the most entertaining teams here in Salisbury, but Khalid could take the currently #36 ranked team in the country by Prep Circuit to a whole new level.

Na'shon "Bones" Hyland

Na'shon "Bones" Hyland, PG, St. Georges

“Bizzy Bones” as many call him, is a walking bucket from the state of Delaware, as he displayed last year here at the Governor’s Challenge. In two games with St. Georges, Hyland averaged 28 points, 4 assists, 6.5 rebounds & 5 steals per game, in addition to scoring his 1000th career point here in Salisbury. Throughout his junior season, Bones had multiple 50-point games while raking up multiple D1 Offers and in result is ranked the #1 player in the state of Delaware. After an injury from an unfortunate family tragedy in the off season, Hyland looks to bounce back and reprove his dominance on the court.

Based of his high academics and incredible talent, Jarvis will be suiting up for Yale next season of who he committed to very early in the recruiting process. At 6’7 & 215 pounds, EJ is an absurd athlete flying all over the court at his large size. Coming in from Baltimore, he is considered one of the best in the state even though only a Junior. The 6’6 forward currently holds around 20 D1 offers from schools such as UCLA, Ohio State, Florida, Georgetown among many others in addition to being ranked the #65 2020 player in the nation by Rivals.
